2019: Barr Transportation was founded with a single retired school bus purchased from a local contractor in St. Mary’s County, Maryland. Driven by a vision to provide dependable and affordable transportation, we began serving local communities with small-scale services.
2020: Like many businesses, Barr Transportation faced unprecedented challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic. With schools closed and transportation needs drastically reduced, we adapted to the difficult circumstances by focusing on maintenance, strategic planning, and preparing for a return to service. This period of hardship reinforced our resilience and commitment to serving our community.
2022: Our operations expanded significantly as we entered the school bus transportation sector. Awarded a contract with Baltimore County Public Schools, we relocated to Central Maryland, beginning with a single route and quickly adding more buses and drivers to meet growing demand.
2023: We broadened our services to include private and parochial schools, supporting their daily routes and special events. The addition of our first brand-new bus marked a milestone in our journey, as did our move to a larger facility in Elkridge, Maryland.
2024: Building on our success, we secured additional contracts for school bus routes, sports team transportation, and field trips with private schools in the area. These new opportunities reflect our growing reputation as a trusted transportation provider.
2025: In January 2025, Barr Transportation celebrated another significant milestone with the addition of our 16th bus.
